Hamilton at Majestic Theatre

After tours in the world’s most well-known locations such as Broadway itself and London’s West End, Hamilton will now also be on tour for a limited season this August in Majestic Theatre of San Antonio, an equally renowned theatre known for its greatest facilities fit to present top-of-the-line productions and musicals.

The show honors the life of Alexander Hamilton, conceptualized and composed by the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda, based off the 2004 biography of Ron Chernow. It tells the real life of Hamilton himself in a ‘hipper’ style, staying faithful to the truth behind Hamilton's life but with and musical styles that makes this show very entertaining. The show really began off Broadway in August of 2015 and was quickly met with impressive reviews from its opening night. Among plenty of critics and audiences, The Washington Post, called it “making ecstatic history”, as the show’s performance with its impressive cast including the likes of show creator Lin-Manuel Miranda himself in the lead role and Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff, astounded audiences in its first performance with a memorable production. Hamilton went on over the next ten years to collect eleven Tony Awards from 16 nominations, plus Olivier, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize Awards.

Since it began in 2015, the show has toured to perform in lots of venues around the world, where it has been receiving continuously positive reviews. BroadwayWorld calls Hamilton “the hottest ticket in town”, as it lends itself to a wider range in audience because of being accessible to both the more mature audiences who appreciate the history behind Hamilton, and the newer audiences that came for the exciting and creative concept behind this production. In London’s West End, TimeOut mentions their worry behind the Musical being overhyped, but that “Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical about Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury, is actually better than the hype suggests”. More so, recently with a touring cast in its Manila, Philippines’ performance, PEP PH describes the production as a “visual and sensory feast that adds layers of depth to the narrative”; “This musical is a masterpiece not because it tells a flawless story, but because it brilliantly captures the essence of the imperfect human experience, and in doing so, it achieves perfection on the stage”, they add.

Both critics and audiences alike agree that the Musical is a must-attend this summer as it kicks off its tour all over America.
