After debuting in 2015, the production went on to take home 8 Drama Desk Awards, 11 Tony Awards from 18 nominations, and the 2016 Pulitzer Prize.

Miranda and the cast of Hamilton set out to recount the tale of "America then, as told by America now." To do so, Hamilton aims to cast ethnic minority actors as the American Founding Fathers and other major roles.
