Hamilton at Majestic Theatre

After performances in the world’s most well-known venues including Broadway itself and London’s West End, Hamilton will now also be on tour for a limited season this summer in Majestic Theatre of San Antonio, an equally renowned theatre acclaimed for its best facilities fit to host top-of-the-line plays and shows.

The show honors the life of Alexander Hamilton, conceptualized and composed by the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda, based off the 2004 biography of Ron Chernow. It retells the historical life of Alexander Hamilton in a ‘hipper’ format, remaining close to the facts behind his life but with and musical styles that makes this Musical largely entertaining. Hamilton originally began off Broadway in the late summer of 2015 and was quickly met with amazing reviews for its debut. Along with a number of press articles and reviewers, The Washington Post, called it “making ecstatic history”, as the Musical’s premiere with its amazing cast which included the likes of show creator Lin-Manuel Miranda himself in the title role and Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff, wowed audiences in its premiere with a brilliant production. Hamilton went on over the next decade to earn eleven Tony Awards from 16 nominations, in addition to Olivier, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize Awards.

Ever since its debut, the Musical has toured to perform in dozens of theaters across the world, where it has been received with continuously positive reviews. BroadwayWorld calls Hamilton “the hottest ticket in town”, as it lends itself to a broad range in audience because of being accessible to both the older audiences who appreciate the history behind the production, and the newer audiences that wanted the fresh and innovative approach behind this Musical. In London’s West End, TimeOut mentions their worry behind Hamilton being overhyped, but that “Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical about Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury, is actually better than the hype suggests”. Additionally, recently the touring cast in its Manila, Philippines’ performance, PEP PH describes Hamilton as a “visual and sensory feast that adds layers of depth to the narrative”; “This musical is a masterpiece not because it tells a flawless story, but because it brilliantly captures the essence of the imperfect human experience, and in doing so, it achieves perfection on the stage”, they expanded.

Both critics and audiences alike agree that the Musical is a must-see this summer as it continues its runs all over the Country.
