Multi-awarded and multi-instrumentalist singing group The Chicks is showcasing what fans consider to be the best albums of their career through the Taking The Long Way 20th Anniversary Tour. Of course, they cannot complete the tour without a stop here in Texas! It would be two decades since their best-selling album Taking the Long Way, and the three band mates could not be any prouder of their inspirational music legacy. Founding member Emily Strayer has found re-listening and rehearsing their songs a new experience, sharing, “I was surprised how relevant they still seemed even though they were such personal stories.”
In 2020, The Chicks officially ended their 14-year hiatus by releasing their much-awaited eighth studio album, Gaslighter. The iconic trio knew their fans deserve the very best tracks, so they collaborated with Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, and Lana Del Rey’s record producer, Jack Antonoff. Being awarded 13 Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association (CMA) Awards, and seven Billboard Music Awards through the years is clear evidence of the group’s unrelenting passion to make the most thrilling tracks, including Landslide, Wide Open Spaces, and You Were Mine. By making new music, sisters Martie Maguire and Natalie Maines and their bandmate Emily Strayer have marked their new era with the same courage and defiance all those years ago, and although they’re still Not Ready to Make Nice, they are definitely ready to come back on the concert stages!
